It features a cinema style home theater, a fully equipped recreation room, private bedroom suites and multiple gathering spaces that will appeal to all age groups. Located in the community of Villages at Ocean Hill, this stylish home is 200 yards to the community beach access making trips to and from the ocean a breeze. Community amenities available to guests include tennis courts, a children's playground, basketball courts, nature trails, and a fitness center (available for a daily/weekly fee). This subdivision is in close proximity to the four wheel drive beaches of Carova. Adventurous guests can four-wheel on the beach or sign up for a Wild Horse Tour to discover our infamous North Carolina wild horses that reside on our northern beaches.

The ground level provides access to a central elevator for ease in transporting luggage and groceries to their appropriate destination. The recreation room will be the center of activity as guests enjoy the shuffleboard table, a wet bar with sink, icemaker and full refrigerator and a pub table with seating for four. A half bath is centrally located on this floor. After beach time, gather together in the private home theater equipped with six plush Lane leather reclining seats, surround sound, and a 73" TV. A cozy queen bedroom completes the amenities on this floor and provides a private bathroom.

The good time keep rolling outdoors where guests are treated to a private sparkling saltwater pool. Take a refreshing dip or lounge poolside with your favorite tunes playing on the outdoor sound system. The sheltered hot tub allows for relaxation rain or shine, and the grill area is ideal for preparing BBQ meals as the family arrives back home from the beach.

The sun-filled second floor great room features glistening hardwood floors with plush rugs, comfortable sofas and armchairs nestled around a 54" flat screen TV and a grand dining table that seats 12 guests. The adjacent sun room is the perfect place for morning coffee and intimate conversations and offers visitors a cozy sofa and two armchairs. A half bath and sun deck are located on this level. The modern kitchen easily accommodates more than one cook, is well stocked for ease in meal preparations (includes a Keurig), and offers a breakfast bar for more casual dining. Steps lead to a sunny loft furnished with two chairs and a table for friendly chess and checker games. A private, elegant king suite on this floor has a sitting area and a private bath with a custom tile shower.

Most know The Cotton Gin as a must-stop shop for fine gifts, beachwear, souvenirs and so much more, but this retailer has a long-standing history within the Outer Banks. A local landmark that holds almost a century of memories, The Cotton Gin started from humble beginnings and continues to adapt to the times and tourists. Tommy Wright’s family has been in the Outer Banks for nearly 200 years. His great-great grandfather, Jacob Francis Wright, shipwrecked in Duck back in the early 1800s. Calling these barrier islands his new home, Wright and his family acclimated to their new environment.

 

Adaptation is a common theme for the Wright family. Tommy and his wife Candace, who continue to steer The Cotton Gin, have seen not only their business change with the times, but the Outer Banks as a vacation destination as well. A farm market in Jarvisburg eventually transformed and flourished into several retail locations dotting the Outer Banks.

 

“As the area changed and tourism took off in the 1960s, the family saw people coming for vacations, so they began to grow vegetables and things developed from there,” says Tommy Wright. The Wright family expanded upon the farm market and began to remodel a working cotton gin, later transforming the gin into The Cotton Gin general store in the late 1960s. While the additions to the farm store drew visitors, it was their encounters with the Wright family that kept people coming back year after year, which is something that remains true today.
