The ground floor is completely designated to private sleeping accommodations, including one king with a walk-in closet and dressing area, one special access oceanside bedroom with two queen beds with barrier-free shower and roll-under sink, one with two twin beds and a bedroom with a double bunk. All four bedrooms have a private bath.

Outdoor amenities include a custom heated 24' x 12' pool with a wading area, a 7-person hot tub, a full cabana bath, and a covered grill/bar area with a sink. A private beach access means the shoreline is waiting just over the dune. Please note shifting sands can cover the dune deck at times.

The first floor provides two oceanfront bedrooms, one king with private bath, walk-in closet, dual sink vanity, and covered deck access, and one queen with private bath and covered deck access. The balance of this level is dedicated to recreation and fun, providing a central recreation room with a regulation-size pool table, foosball table, and a wall mounted flatscreen TV. The nearby media lounge features a plasma TV, surround sound, custom tiered seating, and a 4-seat table. The adjoining bar has a sink, dishwasher, microwave, icemaker, and beverage center. A half bath and laundry facilities with two stackable washer/dryer units are conveniently located on this level.

The second floor features a showcase great room with panoramic ocean views, hardwood flooring, a vaulted ceiling, a seasonal electric fireplace, covered deck access, an oceanfront dining table with seating for ten, and a fully equipped gourmet kitchen with two dishwashers, two refrigerators, range, oven, microwave, a Keurig, and bar seating for 6. The adjoining Butler's pantry provides a sink, beer/wine cooler, microwave, additional counter space, and storage. Two king suites on this floor provide private balcony access, sound views, and private baths, and one has a walk-in closet. A half bath is located on this level.

Updates for 2023: All TVs upgraded to larger Samsung Smart TVs (cable access will be provided via the Spectrum app, and guests are welcome to log into their personal streaming accounts), new beach walkway, fresh interior paint in various parts of the home, and a set of French doors on the top floor changed to a picture window.

Pool: Pool heated by heat pump. Ambient air temperature of 60 degrees or higher is needed to heat the pool, meaning that if the temperature drops below 60 degrees the pump will not continue to heat. Max pool temperature is 80 degrees.

Special Access Amenities: Ground floor two queens has a bathroom with a barrier-free shower, grab bar, and a roll-under sink. Please note that none of our homes are ADA compliant. Contact our office for additional information.

Path to Beach: Due to shifting ocean currents and wind, it is normal for sand accumulation to cover the walkway and dune deck at this home.

Most know The Cotton Gin as a must-stop shop for fine gifts, beachwear, souvenirs and so much more, but this retailer has a long-standing history within the Outer Banks. A local landmark that holds almost a century of memories, The Cotton Gin started from humble beginnings and continues to adapt to the times and tourists. Tommy Wright’s family has been in the Outer Banks for nearly 200 years. His great-great grandfather, Jacob Francis Wright, shipwrecked in Duck back in the early 1800s. Calling these barrier islands his new home, Wright and his family acclimated to their new environment.

 

Adaptation is a common theme for the Wright family. Tommy and his wife Candace, who continue to steer The Cotton Gin, have seen not only their business change with the times, but the Outer Banks as a vacation destination as well. A farm market in Jarvisburg eventually transformed and flourished into several retail locations dotting the Outer Banks.

 

“As the area changed and tourism took off in the 1960s, the family saw people coming for vacations, so they began to grow vegetables and things developed from there,” says Tommy Wright. The Wright family expanded upon the farm market and began to remodel a working cotton gin, later transforming the gin into The Cotton Gin general store in the late 1960s. While the additions to the farm store drew visitors, it was their encounters with the Wright family that kept people coming back year after year, which is something that remains true today.
