Welcome to your slice of paradise at Sea Gypsy. This recently remodeled home offers almost 4000 sq. ft. of space to spread out, as well as stunning panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean.

Take in the spectacular views, watching the sunrise and the dolphins frolic from all of the decks, as well as the top level great room and sunroom. Wake up to the sounds of the ocean before spending your days on the beach gathering shells, fishing, surfing, or just relaxing in the sun.

On the top level of Sea Gypsy, the cathedral ceilings in the great room and the professional decor throughout will sooth all of your cares away. The living area is elevated from the rest of the level by two stairs. Floor-to-ceiling windows surround the living and dining areas, allowing great views of the ocean. You will find an expansive gourmet kitchen with double wall ovens, custom cabinets, and granite counters. The breakfast bar with swivel chairs is a great spot to gather and plan the day’s events. The large dining table will fit everyone, and is also a great spot for family game night. Take in a good book and enjoy the scenery from the top level sunroom. The queen en suite on this level boasts a large private bath with a jetted bathtub for soaking your cares away, as well as private access to the top level sun deck for overlooking the ocean.

The mid level offers five bedrooms, all with large smart TVs for your viewing pleasure, and all the comfort you are looking for in a vacation rental. Two queen bedrooms, a king bedroom, and a bedroom with two twin beds share two full hall baths. The final bedroom on this level boasts a king bed and a private en suite bath. The three east-facing bedrooms all have views of the Atlantic Ocean and open up to the covered, furnished deck.

All of the bedrooms on this level are stunningly tasteful. There is also a laundry area with a washer and dryer to keep everything tidy. The large and bubbly hot tub is located on the mid level deck and also boasts perfect ocean views. Sit back and let your cares melt away!

The ground level has a custom wet bar with a small refrigerator and freezer combo in the recreation room along with a beautiful pool table and two large televisions to enjoy. The final two bedrooms are also on this level, both with large smart TVs. The king en suite has an attached private bath with a double sink and full shower stall. The queen en suite has floor-to-ceiling windows and private bath. Custom fabric curtains can be pulled all the way to the ceiling for a dramatic view or lowered all the way to the floor for privacy.

Outside, hang out at the custom tiki bar with a fan and lights, with the sounds of the ocean offering the perfect backdrop. The fish cleaning table is nearby and perfect for cleaning the catch of the day. The gas grill here will make those barbeques so easy to enjoy!

Avon is a great location, as you are close to world-famous kiteboarding areas, the Avon fishing pier, which often has music on the weekends, a full-service grocery store, restaurants, and numerous shops to enjoy. The beaches are clean and you can walk for miles looking for shells, fishing, or just watching the waves.

Full linens are provided and the beds are made for your convenience and comfort.

To protect the dunes, please walk between the sand fences. Sea Gypsy is big and beautiful, and due to its size, it is not available for early arrivals.

Most know The Cotton Gin as a must-stop shop for fine gifts, beachwear, souvenirs and so much more, but this retailer has a long-standing history within the Outer Banks. A local landmark that holds almost a century of memories, The Cotton Gin started from humble beginnings and continues to adapt to the times and tourists. Tommy Wright’s family has been in the Outer Banks for nearly 200 years. His great-great grandfather, Jacob Francis Wright, shipwrecked in Duck back in the early 1800s. Calling these barrier islands his new home, Wright and his family acclimated to their new environment.

 

Adaptation is a common theme for the Wright family. Tommy and his wife Candace, who continue to steer The Cotton Gin, have seen not only their business change with the times, but the Outer Banks as a vacation destination as well. A farm market in Jarvisburg eventually transformed and flourished into several retail locations dotting the Outer Banks.

 

“As the area changed and tourism took off in the 1960s, the family saw people coming for vacations, so they began to grow vegetables and things developed from there,” says Tommy Wright. The Wright family expanded upon the farm market and began to remodel a working cotton gin, later transforming the gin into The Cotton Gin general store in the late 1960s. While the additions to the farm store drew visitors, it was their encounters with the Wright family that kept people coming back year after year, which is something that remains true today.
