OCEANFRONT Avon – Ocean View Dr. – Avast, sea lovers. BEACHFRONT PIRATES, a six-bedroom/four- and one-half-bath home, invites you to set sail on a memorable vacation where sand, surf and sun are yours to plunder.

Bring the family, including up to two of your dog friends, to this beachfront haven which offers a wink to the buccaneers who once roamed North Carolina’s coastline. On the ground level there is an outdoor shower, washer/dryer and a game room featuring a pool table, enormous cable TV, and wet bar. One level up, the young mates in your group will adore the kids’ room featuring two single bunk beds and a TV with DVD player. Across the hall is a queen bedroom with a Intelligent TV. Thirdly, a bedroom with two singles provides deck access to the deck, and a TV with Roku Streaming capabilities. These three bedrooms share a full hallway bathroom. There is also a master queen bedroom on this floor with a private ensuite bath and cable TV. From this level you can venture onto the ocean facing deck, where an in-deck 4-person hot tub awaits to soothe you after a day of swashbuckling in the sun.

Another queen master bedroom with cable TV occupies the second level and provides direct access to the great room, kitchen, and dining area. Plan and prepare your family’s meals in a roomy kitchen with new stainless appliances, plentiful refaced cabinets, and a counter with two stools. There’s a breakfast nook in the corner and a bigger 10-seat dining table to accommodate everybody for family feasts. The space flows comfortably into the cathedral-ceilinged great room where a sizable flat screen cable TV and comfortable furnishings provide a serene space to settle in for the evening. Want a solitary moment to dig into a good book? A separate side den offers the ideal cozy spot. Step outside onto the oceanfront deck and appreciate the show: dolphins frolicking, seagulls flying and the nighttime sky’s constellations which guided seafarers long ago.

Of course, like on any ship, the captain’s quarters occupies the premier space, as is the case with the home’s sixth and final bedroom. Located on the third level, this master queen features an ensuite bath, a west-side sitting room, a cable TV, and a private oceanfront balcony. Sound like a place you could weigh anchor? Set sail on your dream vacation by booking BEACHFRONT PIRATES now.

Awful Arthur's Oyster Bar

Welcome to the home of the happy oyster where for over 40 years the oyster has been our world. The Outer Banks only authentic oyster bar is the place to enjoy sensational fare from the sea washed down with your favorite brew or cocktail. We serve by the peck, pound, and dozen, raw or steamed to perfection. Kicked back casual, down to earth friendly staff, and reasonable prices make Awful Arthur’s Oyster Bar the all-time favorite of locals and travelers alike.

The idea wasn’t to set out and establish a new concept restaurant on the Outer Banks, but that’s exactly what Awful Arthur’s owner Jo Whitehead and her late husband, Jay, accomplished more than 35 years ago when they opened the area’s first authentic oyster bar.

Awful Arthur’s opened in May 1984 on the Outer Banks. “We embraced the concept of an authentic copper top bar with the idea of it being a major drawing card and it still is,” explains Whitehead. “I get oysters wherever they are local. We follow the warm waters.”

Just across from the ocean, in Kill Devil Hills, oyster season is year-round at Awful Arthur’s. Diners can take a seat at the copper-topped bar to observe the staff shucking oysters, served raw or steamed, along with shrimp, crab legs and clams all steamed to perfection.

It’s not just the raw bar that’s earned Awful Arthur’s both local and national recognition, including being named one of America’s greatest oyster bars by Coastal Living magazine. The restaurant is a seafood-lover’s paradise, offering the freshest catches available.
