Beach access is just a chipshot away from your door, or you can putter around by the pool under Carolina blue skies. Plus, enjoy discounted guest rate greens and free range balls at Currituck Club. Either way, the Sweet Spot promises to be par for the course - or better! You'll have access to two outdoor pools, one of which is oceanfront with restrooms, showers, and a locker room, tennis courts, basketball and volleyball courts, a playground, a racquet and fitness center, walking and biking trails, and to the Audubon Sanctuary & Center.

The ground level offers two bedrooms, one with a TV and gaming console for the kids, two full baths, a recently renovated recreation room with a pool table, a TV, a DVD player, a full-size fridge, and a freestanding Scotsman Ice Maker. The pool deck has an outside shower, storage area, and plenty of seating around the pool. The second level has a main bedroom with a private deck, another bedroom that shares a full bath with a room with a queen bedroom. The den has a queen sofa bed and a foosball table that gives the kids an area all their own. Deck access on this level leads out to the eight-person hot tub, a hammock, and a two-person hammock swing. On the top level, the bright and spacious great room is comfortably furnished and features a TV, a stereo, a gas fireplace, dining areas, a half bath, and an elevated ship’s watch stocked with games, puzzles, and books. The newly remodeled kitchen has all-new stainless steel appliances, cabinets, and granite countertops. The main bedroom has a newly remodeled full bath with a walk-in shower, new cabinets and sinks, and a jetted tub. The gas grill and picnic table are located outside on the wraparound deck. You'll also have beach access just 40 yards away.

THINGS TO KNOW

  • For January and February bookings, please contact Vacasa to ensure the hot tub is available.
  • The pool is open from the end of April through mid-October.
  • You will be required to sign an additional lease agreement upon making a booking which will be sent to your email. You will not be able to check-in until we have received your signature electronically. Please contact us directly if you do not receive this agreement.
  • This property is managed by Vacasa North Carolina LLC.
  • 2 dogs welcome in this home. No other animals are allowed without specific Vacasa approval.

Awful Arthur's Oyster Bar

Welcome to the home of the happy oyster where for over 40 years the oyster has been our world. The Outer Banks only authentic oyster bar is the place to enjoy sensational fare from the sea washed down with your favorite brew or cocktail. We serve by the peck, pound, and dozen, raw or steamed to perfection. Kicked back casual, down to earth friendly staff, and reasonable prices make Awful Arthur’s Oyster Bar the all-time favorite of locals and travelers alike.

The idea wasn’t to set out and establish a new concept restaurant on the Outer Banks, but that’s exactly what Awful Arthur’s owner Jo Whitehead and her late husband, Jay, accomplished more than 35 years ago when they opened the area’s first authentic oyster bar.

 

Awful Arthur’s opened in May 1984 on the Outer Banks. “We embraced the concept of an authentic copper top bar with the idea of it being a major drawing card and it still is,” explains Whitehead. “I get oysters wherever they are local. We follow the warm waters.” 

 

Just across from the ocean, in Kill Devil Hills, oyster season is year-round at Awful Arthur’s. Diners can take a seat at the copper-topped bar to observe the staff shucking oysters, served raw or steamed, along with shrimp, crab legs and clams all steamed to perfection. 

 

It’s not just the raw bar that’s earned Awful Arthur’s both local and national recognition, including being named one of America’s greatest oyster bars by Coastal Living magazine. The restaurant is a seafood-lover’s paradise, offering the freshest catches available.
