Ride bicycles or walk to Bay Drive and appreciate sidewalk lined roads along the Currituck Sound to savor sunsets, fishing, crabbing or launch a boat from the public boat launch at Dock Street. Bay Drive is also a great place to go for a run! This home is also just 4 to 5 blocks from the beach!  Appreciate it all and stay fit while on vacation with your own exercise area.

Ground Level: Exterior amenities include a huge completely gated yard with patio and fire pit, side yard with picnic table, outside shower and parking for 4 cars. Inside you’ll find a Den with flat-screen TV/DVD, Double Sleep Couch, bar area with seating for 2, dart board and patio access. Exercise area with a stair climber, rower, elliptical, complimentary weights and outside fenced yard access. Queen Bedroom with TV, full hallway bath and laundry with washer and dryer.

Top Level: Great room with a flat-screen TV/DVD and deck access with seating and gas grille. Recently refreshed kitchen, dining area seating 6, California King Bedroom with flat-screen TV,  Queen Bedroom and a full hallway bathroom.

Linens and towels included at no additional cost. This home will provide sheets for all beds and the beds will be made with the exception of sleep couches, top bunk beds and trundle beds in which case the sheets are supplied. This home also provides 1 bath towel and 1 wash cloth per person the home sleeps, 2 hand towels per full bathroom, 1 hand towel per half bathroom and a bath mat for each shower or tub.

Booking: After booking, you will receive an e-mail with instructions to electronically sign your lease agreement and make your online payment within 3 days, to avoid cancellation. During the booking process you will be asked to enter a credit card number, nothing will be charged to this card. We offer optional travel insurance as well as other optional costs that you can opt in or out of on your lease agreement. Your final payment will be due 30 days prior to arrival. *Reservations booked within 45 days of arrival will have 3 days to sign the lease agreement and submit payment in full.

Most know The Cotton Gin as a must-stop shop for fine gifts, beachwear, souvenirs and so much more, but this retailer has a long-standing history within the Outer Banks. A local landmark that holds almost a century of memories, The Cotton Gin started from humble beginnings and continues to adapt to the times and tourists. Tommy Wright’s family has been in the Outer Banks for nearly 200 years. His great-great grandfather, Jacob Francis Wright, shipwrecked in Duck back in the early 1800s. Calling these barrier islands his new home, Wright and his family acclimated to their new environment.

 

Adaptation is a common theme for the Wright family. Tommy and his wife Candace, who continue to steer The Cotton Gin, have seen not only their business change with the times, but the Outer Banks as a vacation destination as well. A farm market in Jarvisburg eventually transformed and flourished into several retail locations dotting the Outer Banks.

 

“As the area changed and tourism took off in the 1960s, the family saw people coming for vacations, so they began to grow vegetables and things developed from there,” says Tommy Wright. The Wright family expanded upon the farm market and began to remodel a working cotton gin, later transforming the gin into The Cotton Gin general store in the late 1960s. While the additions to the farm store drew visitors, it was their encounters with the Wright family that kept people coming back year after year, which is something that remains true today.
