Sit. Stay and unwind at this semi-oceanfront, pet-friendly Outer Banks vacation home! Conveniently located right across from the beautiful beaches of Southern Shores, Sit. Stay is just 500’ from the semi-private beach access, only available to Southern Shores residents and their guests. Walk to and from the beach for the day, or walk or bike to a number of Outer Banks restaurants and shops. Take in beautiful sunrises and sunsets from the spacious wraparound sun and shaded decks. This seven-bedroom vacation rental provides a gorgeous backdrop for all the memories to be made during your OBX stay.

The ground-level exterior, outfitted with a hot tub and private pool, offers ample space for catching some rays, soaking, or evening star-gazing. The interior is spacious and versatile, featuring multiple common areas, an open great room, and a game room with a pool table. The optimal layout for hosting the week's family activities. When it's time to retreat to your own space, all seven bedrooms are en suites and include two kings, four queens, and a pyramid bunk bed. Every member of the family is sure to find the best space to call their own for the week.

While others are sitting in traffic, you'll be sitting on the beach or by the pool, as Sit. Stay is a Friday check-in day. Enjoy smaller weekend crowds on the beach and a more stress-free arrival by checking in on a Friday.

The town of Southern Shores provides one of the most unique opportunities for beachgoers and day explorers alike, with wide bike paths and many nature trails throughout. Just north of Sit. Stay is the popular town of Duck, with a soundfront boardwalk, shops, activities, and restaurants. Just a bit further north is Corolla and the 4x4 beaches, home to the legendary wild horses. To the south, the central beaches offer highlights such as the Wright Brothers National Memorial, Jockey’s Ridge State Park, and Roanoke Island's historical sites and quaint shops. However, with the amenities provided at Sit. Stay, you may never want to leave the house!

Sheets and towels are provided. Enjoy a competitive game of cornhole. Cornhole bags are $25 + tax deposit. Refunded when bags get returned to the office.

2 parking passes are available with a $15 + tax deposit per pass for Southern Shores amenities in 2024. Amenities include beach parking, tennis, pickleball, and community parks.

Dogs allowed only (2 mature dogs max).

Pool open 5/11/24 - 10/12/24. Pool heat can be added for an additional $400.

This home includes credit for $315 in beach gear rentals from our partners at VayK Life. Stay between April 6th and October 19th, 2024 (7-night minimum), and use your beach gear credit for items such as bikes, beach chairs, umbrellas, paddleboards, and more!

Ground Level: Queen en suite with a flat screen TV, pyramid bunk en suite, recreation room with a pool table and wet bar with a full-sized refrigerator, den with seating, half bath, laundry closet. Parking for 6, enclosed outdoor shower, private pool and hot tub, charcoal grill.

Mid Level: King en suite with TV and access to covered deck, 3 queen en suites with TVs and deck access, and den with TV and deck access.

Top Level: Open great room with connecting kitchen, living, and dining areas. Living area with a flat screen TV, ocean views and access to the east-facing sun deck, dining area with seating for 12, kitchen with bar seating for 3, 2 refrigerators and 2 dishwashers, half bath, king en suite with TV and Jacuzzi tub.

Most know The Cotton Gin as a must-stop shop for fine gifts, beachwear, souvenirs and so much more, but this retailer has a long-standing history within the Outer Banks. A local landmark that holds almost a century of memories, The Cotton Gin started from humble beginnings and continues to adapt to the times and tourists. Tommy Wright’s family has been in the Outer Banks for nearly 200 years. His great-great grandfather, Jacob Francis Wright, shipwrecked in Duck back in the early 1800s. Calling these barrier islands his new home, Wright and his family acclimated to their new environment.

 

Adaptation is a common theme for the Wright family. Tommy and his wife Candace, who continue to steer The Cotton Gin, have seen not only their business change with the times, but the Outer Banks as a vacation destination as well. A farm market in Jarvisburg eventually transformed and flourished into several retail locations dotting the Outer Banks.

 

“As the area changed and tourism took off in the 1960s, the family saw people coming for vacations, so they began to grow vegetables and things developed from there,” says Tommy Wright. The Wright family expanded upon the farm market and began to remodel a working cotton gin, later transforming the gin into The Cotton Gin general store in the late 1960s. While the additions to the farm store drew visitors, it was their encounters with the Wright family that kept people coming back year after year, which is something that remains true today.
