For more adventures, stroll or cycle to the town of Duck to explore shops, restaurants, a soundside boardwalk, and a multi-use pathway that meanders through the town. An 11-acre town park hosts seasonal family-friendly activities, including fitness classes, family activities, summer evening concerts, and more!

A vibrant bedroom on the ground level is furnished with a pyramid bunk and Smart TV. A full bathroom is available to those in the ground floor bedroom and the rec room.

Rec room doors open to a sheltered screened-in patio with seating and outdoor dining for many. A fully fenced sparkling pool allows for daily swims, and a poolside tiki bar with seating is a shady haven to sip chilled beverages. A gas grill is provided and replaced annually. Beyond the pool area is a sandy volleyball court for some fun in the sun for those of all ages. As the sun sets, retreat to the poolside hot tub to let your cares fade under star-filled coastal skies.

Sprawling covered decks offer outdoor furniture, a Nags Head Hammock, and a porch swing to enjoy relaxing community views.

Emulating the shades of sea glass, the living area offers sofa seating, a stylish rug, a large Smart TV, a sound bar system, and a cozy armchair conversation area. Living extends to the furnished sundeck to enjoy heightened views and refreshing sea breezes. A half bath is available. A stylishly efficient gourmet kitchen overlooks the great room and features ceramic tile floors, radiant granite countertops, tile backsplash, and casual bar seating for five. Stainless steel kitchen appliances include a refrigerator with an in-freezer icemaker, six burner Jenn-Aire stove, oven, Keurig, microwave, and two dishwashers. Meals can be served at a dining table for 10-12 guests.

A king bedroom completes the amenities and offers hardwood floors, bench seating, a Smart TV, sundeck access, a walk-in closet, and a luxury bath with a dual sink vanity, tile shower, and a whirlpool bath.

Community Note: Duck Landing offers several community amenities including a community beach access, four pickleball courts, an indoor heated pool, an indoor heated kiddie pool, a fitness center, a playground, and a clubhouse with a video game room, pool table, foosball, and ping-pong. All of these amenities are located on the east end of the subdivision where there is limited nearby parking (parking pass required and provided). RVs, boats, and trailers are not permitted in this subdivision (unless they fit completely under carport). Golf carts are allowed. The Town of Duck has beach equipment policies to help keep visits to the shore enjoyable and safe.

Most know The Cotton Gin as a must-stop shop for fine gifts, beachwear, souvenirs and so much more, but this retailer has a long-standing history within the Outer Banks. A local landmark that holds almost a century of memories, The Cotton Gin started from humble beginnings and continues to adapt to the times and tourists. Tommy Wright’s family has been in the Outer Banks for nearly 200 years. His great-great grandfather, Jacob Francis Wright, shipwrecked in Duck back in the early 1800s. Calling these barrier islands his new home, Wright and his family acclimated to their new environment.

 

Adaptation is a common theme for the Wright family. Tommy and his wife Candace, who continue to steer The Cotton Gin, have seen not only their business change with the times, but the Outer Banks as a vacation destination as well. A farm market in Jarvisburg eventually transformed and flourished into several retail locations dotting the Outer Banks.

 

“As the area changed and tourism took off in the 1960s, the family saw people coming for vacations, so they began to grow vegetables and things developed from there,” says Tommy Wright. The Wright family expanded upon the farm market and began to remodel a working cotton gin, later transforming the gin into The Cotton Gin general store in the late 1960s. While the additions to the farm store drew visitors, it was their encounters with the Wright family that kept people coming back year after year, which is something that remains true today.
