Welcome to Seasounds, an oceanside home near the beach in the charming community of Sea Tern, just north of Duck Village.

Three separate seating areas, one on the main level, one in the loft, and one on the lower level allow guests to ample space to relax. The downstairs game room features a game table with Foosball/mini pool/ping pong/air hockey, as well as a streaming TV, an expansive list of DVDs and board games as well as an Xbox360 system and library. The upstairs loft, accessible via spiral staircase is a great space to read quietly and watch amazing sunsets. Two level decking offers expansive outdoor seating areas and the comfy screened-in porch is a favorite spot to enjoy a book or cocktail.

The kitchen is well stocked with plenty of dishes, glassware, cookware, and other necessities. The dining area comfortably seats 12-16, 8 at the main table, 4 at the kitchen counter and 4 in the sunroom.

After a long day at the beach, just a short walk away (approximately 800 feet), cool off on the deck of the large private pool or enjoy a game of volleyball or horseshoes. Sea Tern also has sound access for crabbing and kayaking, approximately 600 feet from the house.

For your convenience, this home provides sheets and towels.

The private, unheated pool is available from the second week of May to the second week of October. The pool size is approximately 24' x 30’.

Please note, Seasounds is not pet-friendly.

Top Level: Living area with Roku TV/DVD/Cable, dining area, kitchen and sunroom/sitting area adjoining a screened-in porch with seating and work desk. Queen bedroom with full bath with Jacuzzi tub.

Loft: Accessible via spiral staircase and overlooking the living area, dining area, and sunroom, the loft includes a queen size sofa futon, TV, streaming DVD player, and a peek-a-boo window with sound views.

Most know The Cotton Gin as a must-stop shop for fine gifts, beachwear, souvenirs and so much more, but this retailer has a long-standing history within the Outer Banks. A local landmark that holds almost a century of memories, The Cotton Gin started from humble beginnings and continues to adapt to the times and tourists. Tommy Wright’s family has been in the Outer Banks for nearly 200 years. His great-great grandfather, Jacob Francis Wright, shipwrecked in Duck back in the early 1800s. Calling these barrier islands his new home, Wright and his family acclimated to their new environment.

 

Adaptation is a common theme for the Wright family. Tommy and his wife Candace, who continue to steer The Cotton Gin, have seen not only their business change with the times, but the Outer Banks as a vacation destination as well. A farm market in Jarvisburg eventually transformed and flourished into several retail locations dotting the Outer Banks.

 

“As the area changed and tourism took off in the 1960s, the family saw people coming for vacations, so they began to grow vegetables and things developed from there,” says Tommy Wright. The Wright family expanded upon the farm market and began to remodel a working cotton gin, later transforming the gin into The Cotton Gin general store in the late 1960s. While the additions to the farm store drew visitors, it was their encounters with the Wright family that kept people coming back year after year, which is something that remains true today.
