Cast your line at Reel 'Em Inn, a cottage tucked away in Avon's Kinnakeet Shores. You'll be close to anything and everything you may need, including shops, restaurants, grocery stores, and the beach. When you're not on the beach, enjoy the stunning private pool area complete with an outdoor bar and deck.

Take advantage of the spacious driveway and carport, great for cars and bikes, and the outdoor shower and fish cleaning station. As you make your way inside and up the stairs to the second level, you'll be greeted by four of the five bedrooms, one of which is a primary bedroom, and a shared bathroom. The bedroom adjacent to the bathroom has an attached deck area that overlooks a beautiful pond just past the pool.

You will pass a half bathroom on your way up to the top floor, opening up to the living room. Enjoy the beautiful views from the sofa, big enough for the whole family! Or from the deck just a few steps past the living room. The modern-style kitchen provides ample storage space for snacks and groceries. The dining area just off the kitchen overlooks the beautiful pool and outdoor area and features plenty of seating, as well as extra seating room on the breakfast bar. If you're looking for a new dinner setting, or just need some fresh air, enjoy the gorgeous screened porch just off the living room. Stepping back inside, you'll find the primary bedroom with an attached bathroom.

  • The indoor fireplace is cosmetic only and not for guest use.
  • The TV in the bunk room is for games only.
  • The firepit at the pool area is available for guest use, however, the propane tank is exchanged by guests at ACE Hardware or Food Lion, at the guest's expense, as necessary.
  • The private pool is open seasonally from  4/26/2025 and closes 10/12/2025. Dates are subject to change.
  • This property is managed by Vacasa North Carolina LLC.
  • No pets are allowed at this vacation rental.
  • Parking notes: There is free parking available for 2 vehicles.
  • 2 days notification is required in order to heat the pool.

Most know The Cotton Gin as a must-stop shop for fine gifts, beachwear, souvenirs and so much more, but this retailer has a long-standing history within the Outer Banks. A local landmark that holds almost a century of memories, The Cotton Gin started from humble beginnings and continues to adapt to the times and tourists. Tommy Wright’s family has been in the Outer Banks for nearly 200 years. His great-great grandfather, Jacob Francis Wright, shipwrecked in Duck back in the early 1800s. Calling these barrier islands his new home, Wright and his family acclimated to their new environment.

 

Adaptation is a common theme for the Wright family. Tommy and his wife Candace, who continue to steer The Cotton Gin, have seen not only their business change with the times, but the Outer Banks as a vacation destination as well. A farm market in Jarvisburg eventually transformed and flourished into several retail locations dotting the Outer Banks.

 

“As the area changed and tourism took off in the 1960s, the family saw people coming for vacations, so they began to grow vegetables and things developed from there,” says Tommy Wright. The Wright family expanded upon the farm market and began to remodel a working cotton gin, later transforming the gin into The Cotton Gin general store in the late 1960s. While the additions to the farm store drew visitors, it was their encounters with the Wright family that kept people coming back year after year, which is something that remains true today.
