Ground Level: Features a rec room with foosball table, a 32 inch TV, wet bar with mini fridge and a sliding glass door to the pool area. You will also find a Futon sleeper in the rec room. There are two bedrooms on this floor, each with 2 Bunk Sets and a TV that share a full bathroom. Step outside and enjoy the private pool and a hot tub that sits under a covered deck.

Mid Level: This level is home to 4 bedrooms...a Queen master with TV/DVD, another Queen master with TV and deck access and a bedroom with TV & deck access that shares a full bath with a room that has 2 Singles with TV/DVD and deck access.

Top Level: Offers an expansive, open great room with 55 inch TV and separate sitting area. Outside, thru a sliding glass door, you'll enjoy the views from the oceanside decks with crow's nest deck located on the southeast corner. The gourmet kitchen has granite countertops, stainless steel appliances and dual dishwashers. There is a large dining table that seats 10 and seating for 7 more at the kitchen bar. Rounding out this level is a half bath just off the great room.

THINGS TO KNOW

  • The pool is open from the end of April through mid-October. Dates are subject to change.
  • For January and February bookings, please contact Vacasa to ensure the hot tub is available.
  • You will be required to sign an additional lease agreement upon making a booking which will be sent to your email. You will not be able to check in until we have received your signature electronically. Please contact us directly if you do not receive this agreement.

  • No pets are allowed at this vacation rental.
  • Parking notes: There is free parking available for 4 vehicles.

Most know The Cotton Gin as a must-stop shop for fine gifts, beachwear, souvenirs and so much more, but this retailer has a long-standing history within the Outer Banks. A local landmark that holds almost a century of memories, The Cotton Gin started from humble beginnings and continues to adapt to the times and tourists. Tommy Wright’s family has been in the Outer Banks for nearly 200 years. His great-great grandfather, Jacob Francis Wright, shipwrecked in Duck back in the early 1800s. Calling these barrier islands his new home, Wright and his family acclimated to their new environment.

 

Adaptation is a common theme for the Wright family. Tommy and his wife Candace, who continue to steer The Cotton Gin, have seen not only their business change with the times, but the Outer Banks as a vacation destination as well. A farm market in Jarvisburg eventually transformed and flourished into several retail locations dotting the Outer Banks.

 

“As the area changed and tourism took off in the 1960s, the family saw people coming for vacations, so they began to grow vegetables and things developed from there,” says Tommy Wright. The Wright family expanded upon the farm market and began to remodel a working cotton gin, later transforming the gin into The Cotton Gin general store in the late 1960s. While the additions to the farm store drew visitors, it was their encounters with the Wright family that kept people coming back year after year, which is something that remains true today.
