The North Carolina Beach Buggy Association (NCBBA) will once again hold its Operation Beach Respect and Adopt-A-Highway beach clean-ups, which are two recurring seasonal events that occur 3-4 times a year, and which have been organized by the NCBBA for roughly 40 years.
During the NCBBA Beach Cleanup event, NCBBA volunteer members will be at the entrance of most all open off-road vehicle (ORV) ramps on Bodie Island, Hatteras Island, and Ocracoke Island. Beachgoers can expect to be greeted by NCBBA volunteers as they drive up to their favorite beach access ramp during the beach cleanup event, as NCBBA members will be stationed at each ORV ramp to hand out packets of information on the North Carolina Beach Buggy Association and the Cape Hatteras National Seashore in general. Included in the packet is a large plastic garbage bag, so that folks can clean up their favorite stretch of sand while visiting the seashore. The event also coincides with the Adopt-a-Highway program, which is held along a several-mile stretch of roadway close to Oregon Inlet, and which is wide open to the public. For more information on both events, as well as the NCBBA, visitors can explore the organization’s website, or contact NCBBA at tom.brueckner@ncbba.org.
