If fishing in Wanchese is on your bucket list, look no further than Outer Banks Charter Fishing Adventures. Having logged many hours on these tides, Captain Keith knows them forwards and back.
Amberjack, Bluefish, Cobia, Flounder, Blue Marlin, White Marlin, Sailfish, Black Seabass, Spanish Mackerel, Bigeye Tuna, Yellowfin Tuna, Wahoo, and more could be biting if you cast your line at the right time of year. On the day of your trip, you’re likely to troll and bottom fish.
Families making a day of it will be glad to know that kids are welcome aboard! If you don’t have a child-sized life vest of your own, be sure to ask if there’s one on board. Also, remember to bring snacks so that nobody gets cranky on an empty belly!
You’ll find yourself with Captain Elliott on board a 42’ Bobby Sullivan flybridge that holds up to 6 passengers. It comes with outriggers, a fighting chair, and everything else you need for a productive day on the water. There’s a toilet on board for your convenience. Rods, reels, and tackle are included, as well as lures. Live bait is on offer, but it’s good to ask about this so you know if you’ll be catching it yourself.
You’ll have the help of a First Mate to put you on fish. A 10–20% tip is customary to show your appreciation for their hard work. There’s no need to buy a fishing license, just show up ready for a good time! Have in mind that some fish may have harvest limits or closed seasons. If you don’t know what to expect, ask the captain.
Some essentials to bring are sunglasses, a hat, sunscreen (non-spray), and bottled water. If you’d like to bring other drinks, just ask. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but try to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.
